The history of Tyne-Castle Lodge number 6317 is intertwined with
that of Heaton Lodge no. 2723 due to the fact that Heaton Lodge
members were instrumental in the foundation of several Daughter
Lodges - one of which is Tyne-Castle Lodge.
In the course of history the membership of Heaton Lodge increased
in such numbers that certain Past Masters thought it necessary in
the interests of Freemasonry to form other Lodges.
At one time the membership of Heaton Lodge numbered over two hundred,
in the case of the Lodge of Stability (consecrated 1950) the Candidates
Book was closed due to an eight-year waiting list.
After the formation of St. Marks Lodge, Heaton Lodge continued
to attract plenty of candidates, even during the war years of 1939-1945
it held all of the Regular Meetings and continued to admit candidates
and on the 14th May 1946, WBro. W. Reah presented to the Lodge a
Petition for the formation of Tyne-Castle Lodge No. 6317, which
was signed by the worshipful master and wardens.

- Tyne-Castle Lodge No. 6317 (consecrated 1946)
- Lodge of Stability No. 6985 (consecrated 1950)
- Lord Collingwood No. 3246 (consecrated 1907)
- Lodge of Security No. 7299 (sponsored Lodge – consecrated
1953)
